Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, often shortened to TMNT or just Ninja Turtles, is a multimedia franchise which originally began in 1984 as a comic book series published by Mirage Studios, but later forked into various other media, becoming popular much because of the 1987 animated television series. Though each series of the franchise have it's own story, they all center around the titular turtles, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael, and their never-ending fight against their archnemesis known as the Shredder.
Konami would develop and publish the majority of the video game adaptations of the franchise between 1989 and 2005, most of which are based on the 1987 and 2003 animated television series, and the 1988 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures comics.
