Starship Hector, known as Hector '87 (ヘクター'87) in Japan, is a shoot 'em up game developed and published by Hudson Soft in 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was later included in the Caravan Shooting Collection and Hudson Best Collection Vol. 5: Shooting Collection for the Super Nintendo and Game Boy Advance respectively. It is a spin-off of the Star Soldier series.

Gameplay[]

Starship Hector is similar to Konami's Salamander in that it alternates between vertical and horizontal stages. The Noah comes equipped with a forward-firing gun as well as a secondary missile gun for ground targets. Instead of dying in one hit the ship has a lifebar which depletes whenever it gets hit by enemy bullets and can be replenished by picking up health tanks dropped from statues. Other than the health tanks there are no other item pickups or powerups.
