Silent Hill: Downpour is the eighth Silent Hill video game installment, developed by Vatra Games and published by Konami for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The Xbox 360 version is available as a digital download while the PlayStation 3 version is not. The Xbox 360 version is compatible with the Xbox One. In this case, the game is not run directly from the disc. A ported form of the game is downloaded automatically when the disc is inserted (if the game is installed using physical media, the disc is still required for validation purposes). This version of the game can also be installed digitally.
Downpour is the first Silent Hill game to be in 3D with a 3D compatible television.
Downpour has a stand-alone story set in a previously unexplored south-eastern region of Silent Hill.
The comic Anne's Story features another perspective of the plot. It is recommended to read it after playing Downpour.
Currently, Silent Hill: Downpour is the last fully-released video game in the Silent Hill series. A playable teaser for Silent Hills was released in 2014, but the final game was never completed.
