Pirate Ship is a redemption arcade game developed and published by Konami in 1995.

Plot[]

The player takes the role of a pirate captain on a ship whose goal is to collect lots of coins (2,000 or more) in order to reach a secret island in which they can have a chance to either win a prize (prize redemption) or up to 10X their tickets (ticket redemption).

Gameplay[]

This arcade game uses a boat-steering wheel to control the ship. There are three stages to choose from and the player must collect at least 2,000 coins during the level in order to gain access to the treasure island at the end. Coins (valued in 1, 5, 10, 50, and 100 gold) are found floating on the water, as well as inside treasure chests, but the task to collect them won't be easy, as the player's skills will be required in order to avoid landscapes, boats, sharks, octopuses and various other obstacles that hinder the way. Crashing into any of these will result in 50 coins being deducted from the player's collection. If they crash three times in the ticket redemption version, they will sink and the game will automatically end. There is no crash limit in the prize version.

At the end of the levels, if the player collected 2,000 coins or more, then they'll be given a key with which they can access the secret cave island. If not, the game will end with the crew disappointed. Inside, the player is given the option to choose from three chests, which have different stuff in them depending on the version:

  • Prize version: One of the chests contains the treasure while the other two contain skulls. If the treasure was obtained, it will show the crew happy with all of it, and a prize (capsule) is ejected from the cabinet. If the skull was obtained instead, no prize will be won and the scene will show the same image as not having enough coins.
  • Ticket version: One chest has 1X, another has 2X, and the third has 10X. Picking the 1X chest won't change the final ticket value, picking the 2X will double the player's tickets, while picking the 10X will multiply their tickets by 10.
