Finalizer - Super Transformation (ファイナライザー?) is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up developed and published by Konami for Arcade platforms in 1985.

Gameplay[]

The player controls an airplane flying over America in a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up. The airplane can transform into a robot after some upgrades and gains new weapons, such as a shield or other kinds of different firepowers. The shield can be used to block enemies shoots. If the robot take a couple of hits, it loses its upgrades and go back to the default airplane.

Other interesting features are power-ups; the "Stopper" block the scrolling of the screen and freeze the enemies present on it for five seconds, allowing the airplane/robot to shoot them quietly before the timer run out and the scrolling resume. The other power up is "Crash", in this mode, also for five seconds, the airplane/robot become invincible and is able to collide into other ships and earn a maximum of points. At the end of the levels, the ship has to fight some recurring bosses similar to the Big Cores from the Gradius games.
